Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.
Bastrop County, a few miles and mere minutes from Austin, is a part of the great throbbing musical heart of Texas, which gives it a distinct influence on the music of the nation and the world. Musicians of every color, accomplished in many different genres, have for generations been born and raised here before moving out into the world; others live and work here now — and all nurture the fertile ground of artistry and creativity for the present and future generations of music-makers.
There’s a rhythm in the great Heart of Texas
that makes one want to sing and dance,
strum the strings and beat the drums!
This site is dedicated to letting you in the Bastrop area know more about what
is going on with your neighbor-musicians, and to give you musicians a hand in publicizing
your events. Whether you’re a soloist or member of a group — a duo or a choir, if
you’ll send us information about your performances we can help you publicize them.
Click on the “Submit info” button at the top of the page and you’ll get details on
how to do that.
If you’ll take a few moments to look through the site, you’ll find the Events Calendar with information about what’s going on in the area — and this is where you can publicize your musical activities. On the Listen up! page you can see and hear some of the Bastrop area musicians. And there’s more, so take a look around.
Whether you’re a listener or a performer, be a part of the local music scene and let others know about it. Music simply makes life better for us all.
Country music is three chords and the truth. —Harlan Howard
